RAMADAN SKINCARE GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW FOR GOOD SKIN

Ramadan is a beautiful month to cleanse the soul and body! Ramadan is an amazing way to let the body detox and regenerate itself. However the lack of sleep, short eating frame, lesser hydration and the daily stress can have a negative effect on your skin. Causing the skin to lose its natural balance, which stimulates skin issues you want to avoid. Here is a short list of tips to keep your skin glowing during the fasting period.

HYDRATION

If you don't drink enough water! Your skin might not be able to fight external threats (such as make-up). This can lead to acne and / or other skin problems.

Drink enough water (at least 1,5 liter in the eating frame). A person needs to drink 35 ml per kg of their bodyweight per day.

MOISTURIZE

Because of the lack of hydration you should give your skin some additional external hydration and moisture. Use a stronger moisturizer for your skin and for around your eyes. We recommend the Morning Elixir 'nourish & protect' for normal (only during ramadan), dry and sensitive skin. If your skin is still oily during ramadan than we recommend the Morning Elixir 'protect & anti-age', you can apply a little more oil than usual if it feels dryer.

NUTRITION

Make sure that when you eat, you eat only nutritious food and get your minerals. According to Halima, founder of The Nourished Mislimah, there are five key nutrients one need for a healthy fasting during Ramadan. Check her blog here

Even if you get all your minerals and nutrients, there are some drinks you want to avoid during fasting, which are coffee and soda's. Coffee and soda's absorb the minerals you have in your body, which is logically bad for your skin. During the fasting you might already have lesser intake of minerals, so you really don't want to lose them on coffee or soda's.

CLEANSING

When fasting your skin might have a weaker skin barrier, a disbalanced oil and ph level. Using harsh chemical cleansers can damage the skin a lot. We recommend a mild cleanser, like oil cleansing with tea tree oil. Ghassoul Clay is also a very gentle and moisturizing cleanser and exfoliator to use. Check here our Ghassoul Clay.

MAKE-UP

As mentioned before, the lack of hydration makes your skin not able to fight external threats as well as usual. Make-up is one of these external threats that your skin needs to fight every day. The lack of hydration can therefor cause skin problems and / or acne. Give your skin a period to fast as well. Let the skin breathe without layers of make-up that clog your pores on a daily basis. Skip the make-up and give your skin fresh air, this way your skin can restore itself and glow again.
